VODA is a unique participatory performance project which took place in June 2020. Through a live call centre based in Las Vegas, the public were invited to call a toll free telephone number and receive wisdoms in light of the pandemic and rising sociopolitical problems at that time. VODA is devised to respond to caller concerns by recontextualising the language of important speech acts made during American pandemics. These are woven into colloquial conversation to provide solace and reassurance to the caller after experiencing periods of enforced isolation, financial instability, the threat of ill health and political fear.

This project was made possible by Rogers Art Loft AIR Program. Featuring a collaboration with @antoniozeemusic in producing a sound piece for caller 'hold music'.

My thanks to Antonio Zee and the RAL team, especially Ryan Reid and Lance Smith.
